Music in Familiar Spaces makes its stop at kukkula Winery for an evening of Bach & Blends

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live life on the road in a 1959 19-foot travel trailer on a yearlong journey around North America? Well, internationally recognized cellist Steuart Pincombe and his wife Michelle left professional careers in Europe to do just that! Their mission: to bring the classical music experience of the highest level into the familiar spaces of cafés, breweries, bookstores and homes across the country in an accessible way to a wide audience.

Who is this fascinating Steuart Pincombe you might ask? His career as a cellist has brought him to leading halls and festivals across North America and Europe and he has been named by Strad Magazine a “superb solo cellist” and a “gorgeous player [with] perfect intonation, imaginative phrasing” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Highlights of Steuart's recent concert seasons include being a featured soloist with Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop (DE), festival appearances with Ensemble Ausonia (BE), performing with Holland Baroque Society (NL) for King Willem Alexander of The Netherlands, appearing as soloist at the Amsterdam Cello Bienalle (NL), and co-founding Oerknal! (a contemporary music collective, NL).

Drumroll please……one of his concerts, 'Bach&Beer', was selected by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as one of the 'Top 10 Classical Events of 2014' and a concert in which he appeared as soloist with Rene Schiffer and Apollo's Fire was numbered in London's '5 Best Classical Music Moments of 2014' according to The Telegraph (UK).

Are you dying to experience the beauty of Steuart Pincombe yet? You’re in luck, at the end of September their trailer stops in Paso Robles Wine Country to present a concert in collaboration with kukkula Winery. The concert – taking place on Saturday, September 24th at 5:00 pm on the winery crush pad – is entitled “Bach & Blends” and features three Bach Cello Suites paired with three of kukkula’s wines, each selected to compliment the unique character of each cello suite. The music will be interlaced with short explanations of Steuart’s historical, interpretive approach along with comments from the winery on the growing, aging and blending process for each of the wine selections.

Seating is limited so tickets must be purchased in advance through kukkula’s website. The wine pairing is offered for $25 (sold in advance) and audience members will be asked to “name-their-own-ticket-price” at the door for the concert, paying what they believe the concert is worth.
